| HOME Reaching Overweight Children, Inc. (ROC), founded in 2006, is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas. It was established to combat childhood obesity with an emphasis on prevention, education, consultation, coaching and promotion of fun physical activities resulting in changed attitudes and behaviors that lead to healthy lifestyles. The Problem: Childhood obesity in America has reached epidemic proportions. It is a global issue and statistics prove that it continues to rise. Children all over the world face the threat of this far-reaching epidemic. Over the last 30 years the number of overweight children has doubled and more than 30% of children ages 6-19 are considered overweight. Of these, 15% are considered obese. Unfortunately, excess weight and obesity in early childhood has been found to be a highly accurate indicator of obesity in adulthood and studies further show that overweight teenagers have as high as an 80% probability of being obese in adulthood. |

| To all our ROCer's, We hope you and your families made it safely through Hurricane IKE! During the hurricane, the Kemah Boardwalk was destroyed; therefore, the ROC Fun Run has been cancelled. Since ROC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, your pre-registration will be considered a donation and is tax deductible. If you pre-registered, you can pick up your ROC 2008 FUN RUN T-shirt; check the website for location and time. Anyone can purchase a 2008 ROC FUN RUN T-shirt for $10.
